How to Water Shade Baskets & Containers:
- Turn the hose on low. Fill with water until the pot overflows. Water should go over the top of the pot, not just out of the drain hole in the bottom. Wait.
- Repeat. Wait.
- Repeat until the root ball is fully saturated. This will take a different amount of time each day. If it is raining, it will happen faster. If it is hot and windy, it will take longer. A basket or container cannot be overwatered, unless the drain hole is plugged. Containers take less water than baskets.
- Mix one teaspoon of Fertilome Geraniums, Hanging Baskets and Pansies with a gallon of water. Add one cup to each basket and/or container each time.
- Fuchsias and Sunpatiens need water every day. Begonias can be watered every other day, but it’s best to check the basket daily.
- Gently lifting the bottom of the basket to determine the weight is the best way to determine the amount of water it contains.
